Game On: How To Configure Your Gaming Controller For Kodi Playstation?

With Kodi becoming one of the leading HTPC (home theater system) platforms out there, it’s no surprise that many gamers are turning to Kodi for their gaming needs. This can include everything from playing classic console games to modern PC games, and even cross-platform gaming with other devices like the Playstation or Xbox.

However, if you’re using a controller specifically designed for gaming on your HTPC or if you just want to optimize your experience with Kodi, there are a few things you need to know. In this article, we’re going to show you how to configure your controller for optimal gaming performance on Kodi Playstation.

Download The Necessary Add-Ons

In order to fully enjoy your gaming experience, you will need to install add-ons. There are a few essential add-ons for gaming that you should make sure to have installed: Live TV and PVR, Live Sports, and Add-Ons. These essential add-ons will let you watch live TV and recordings from your PVR, catch live sports events, and browse through the extensive collection of Kodi add-ons available.

Check For Compatability

First of all, make sure that your controller is compatible with Kodi. Most controllers should work just fine, but there are a few exceptions. If you have an older device like an Xbox 360 or Playstation 3, some of the newer controllers may not work properly with those devices due to their older firmware. In those cases, you might be better off using a more traditional HTPC mouse and keyboard combination instead.

You can purchase a compatible controller from a number of online retailers, or you can find one compatible with your device by checking out the official support pages for your particular controller.

Start Configuring

Once you know your controller is working properly with Kodi and your device, it’s time to start configuring the buttons and sticks on your controller specifically for gaming on Kodi Playstation. To do this, open the Settings menu on your Kodi Playstation device and navigate to Input / Devices → Gaming Controllers → Customize Controller.

There are a few things that you’ll want to adjust here: first off, make sure that Enable Controllers is selected. This will allow all of the buttons and sticks on your controller to work as input devices in Kodi. Next up is button mapping – this will tell Kodi what each button does in relation to gameplay on a platform. For example, you might assign the left trigger button on your controller as the “main fire button” so that when you press it down, your character will automatically do what you need it to do.

To get started customizing your controller for optimal gaming performance on Kodi PlayStation, simply click on the “Load Profile” button and select one of the pre-made profiles from the list (like Shooter or Racing). After selecting one of these profiles, simply follow the instructions provided by it and tweak any necessary settings until you have a profile that works perfectly for gaming on any gaming platform.

Map It Out

After this is complete, it’s time to start mapping buttons and sticks to functions in Kodi. To do this, open the Kodi controller settings by clicking on the cogwheel icon in the top left corner of your screen (it looks like three horizontal lines). In the Controller Settings window that opens, click on the button next to “Mapping” and then on the button next to your controller. This will open up a new window where you can map each button and stick on your controller to their corresponding functions in Kodi.

To make sure that everything is working as intended, try playing some of your favorite games on  PlayStation and see if any of the buttons or sticks are not performing as they should be. If something isn’t functioning the way you intended, go back into the Kodi controller settings and tweak the mapping until everything is perfect.

Change It Up

If your initial configuration is no longer serving your gaming needs, you can always change it up by swapping out the buttons and sticks that you’ve mapped. This is a great way to make sure that you’re using the controller in the most productive way possible.

New Playstation, New Settings

If you purchase a new device, such as a Playstation 4, your controller settings may be different than those of an older device. In this case, you’ll need to map the buttons and sticks again in order to get them working with Kodi. You can follow similar guidelines when it comes to initial installation, configuration, and tweaking as you would for any other Kodi device.

There is no wrong way to set up your gaming controller for Kodi PlayStation, so experiment until you find a profile that works best for you. With a little bit of effort, you’ll be able to game on any platform with ease.
