Can you get satellite internet in the USA?

Everyone wants quick, reliable internet access to post social media uptakes, take online classes, and even play a visual assistant tracker. But if you live on a farm with thousands of acres, on the outskirts of a city, or somewhere in between, your options may be limited. About a quarter 25% of rural Americans say that access to high-speed internet is a major problem in their community, the Pew research center reported in a 2018 study. This is where satellite communication works. This is the most widely available internet connection in the U.S., as reported by the federal communication commission (FCC).

If you’ve experienced a problem with your phone service from Spectrum, you can contact their customer service department by calling 866 Spectrum. The customer service representatives can help you resolve your problem over the phone, or they can assist you with billing questions. Depending on your needs, you may need to provide certain information, such as your full name, email address, account number, or phone number. To get the right help, you must first be aware of the terms and conditions of your plan.

OVERVIEW OF SATELLITE INTERNET PROVIDERS

Satellite service providers deliver the service via satellite. This satellite then transmits directly to consumers, with vessels placed in their place. Worldwide, satellite internet is 100% abbreviated. Satellite service providers in the US include ViaSat, HughesNet, Big Bend Telephone company, and X2nSat.

Here’s how it works:

Clicking on a website while surfing the internet. Your request is modem-moving to the satellite container in your building. The vessel submits your request to a geostationary communication satellite. The satellite sends your request to the website. Repeat happens to get feedback, or get data. Because the request and response travel approximately 44,500 kilometers back and forth, the delays or delays experienced are sometimes noticeable, especially if you have increased your data limit or if more people are on the network at the same time. However, satellites access can be a faster solution than dialing, 4G/LTE mobile internet, and other DSL internet systems. And it can always work when disasters such as fires and hurricanes disrupt world-based internet service providers.  Although there are currently only a few satellite providers to choose from, many online satellite options are coming. SpaceX, Amazon, OneWeb, and Telesat have announced that they are developing satellite broadband services. Instead of using geostationary satellites, these services will rely on a low-lying satellite star of the earth.

WHY ARE THERE SO FEW SATELLITE INTERNET PROVIDERS IN THE USA?

As of 2020, there are 4 satellite providers with coverage in the US. Many of these are available nationwide, and HughesNet and ViaSat (formerly Exede) are major online consumer options. Like other online technologies, the trend over the past decade has been to get companies to merge, which has led to a reduction in consumer preference. With satellites, the lack of selection is due to technical requirements, launching and maintaining satellites is very expensive, so it makes sense that only a few companies can compete. That said, the satellite service has made it an important niche throughout the years and serves as an online lifestyle for rural customers. Companies are beginning to try low orbit satellites to increase download speeds and reduce delays.

Why choose ViaSat?

ViaSat offers faster speeds than HughesNet up to 100 Mbps in most areas. That’s four times faster than HughesNet’s high speed. ViaSat also offers much more data than HughesNet programs. With ViaSat’s largest plan, you can get 300 GB of data per month, which is six times the amount of data you can get from the big HughesNet program even though it’s the same price.

Why Choose HughesNet?

HughesNet has the lowest prices on the internet satellite, though out the best option for everyone. HughesNet programs are cheaper because they offer programs with much less data than ViaSat programs. If your family doesn’t use a lot of data (such as if you only use the internet via email and read the news), you can find out about HughesNet’s low-cost plans.

Getting the most data with your satellite service

HughesNet and ViaSat offer many unlimited programs, but keep in mind that even unlimited programs limit the amount of full data at a speed you can use each month. Once you have reached your data limit, you can keep the internet for a month, but your download speed will drop to 3 Mbps or less. Therefore, with any provider you choose, be sure to choose a program that gives you enough valuable information to last a whole month and monitor your data usage so you don’t exceed your limit.

However, we always recommend cable TV or fiber over satellite. For example, Spectrum offers consistent internet speeds even in the bad weather. The plans like the Spectrum Select package are quite affordable and have all the important channels on cable TV. Plus, there are no contracts.
